  Please, forgive my attitude. I had been ill since Thanksgiving. Went to the doctor, and I am getting better. I do not like to have a sour attitude.
Thank you.

  I do this and I have several bible versions. I have a very large Strongs Concordance. I journal on my computer too, as I am a writer, and am also on several prayer groups.
I guess that I must have been having a very bad day, to have posted such a stupid thing as to say that I am very lonely even with the Lord, as Lord of my life. I guess that feeling sorry for yourself, is wrong. Pity parties are not exceptable even in my life and this I do know.
YOur outline of bible study and prayer has been used from a long time, by many people not just me.
I guess that I need to study more and post less.

  Hi all! Here's a very effective way of doing your personal devotions that I'm finding most helpful! I'm posting it here, since it includes prayer as a vital part of it. I't's one of the best therapies for stress, depression, loneliness, grieving, breaking or broken heartedness, and disappointments.

OK, this is what you need to do it:
a notebook, such as a school exercise book (or, you may prefer to use a suitable computer program,
e g "Word") ;
a Bible, (if you have several versions, including a modern paraphrase, that's good);
a Bible concordance,
a Bible dictionary that lists texts for certain subjects, e g forgiveness,
& a pen.
Nowadays, all or many of these resources are available online!

For S D Adventists, an index of E G White's writings, or even "The Conflict of the Ages" series (use the indexes) are also of value.

Other useful books could be used, e g those by Max Lucado, Phillip Yancey, or Chuck Swindoll.

To do it, you'll need to give it top priority, with plenty of time -I usually take 30 -50 minutes. My best time, and I believe it's the same for many other folk, is first thing in your day, or as near to it as you can get. You will probably have to plan for it by retiring earlier the night before, and rising earlier. For this to work, you should not have to shorten it or do it in a hurry.

First pray that God will guide and bless you as you try to discover His plan for your life this day, dealing with any current problems you may have. Remember that God so yearns for us to let Him get close to us, to give us a warm hug, and to guide us with this, as we do it.

Then, write down in the notebook the matter you want to research.
Next, look up that subject in the concordance &/or Bible dictionary.
Write down the texts that are given there, allowing space to copy the text or at least the key section.
Then write down how these texts may specifically help you. If you don't find much that fits your situation at first, keep looking, you'll find something, you just may need to persevere. If you are not very familiar with using your Bible or concordance, etc., ask a christian friend -they should be most willing to help. Then look up your other books for more ideas, slants on your chosen subject.

Soon, you should have enough points to think about and that will help you.

Lastly, pray that God will bless you as you submit fully to Him, according to the information you've just discovered or reviewed. Remember also your family and friends in prayer, and other folk who need our prayers, e g the christians and other folk in Iraq.

I should say, that you may wish to change this method a little, but I think you'd need to stick to this broad outline for it to work.

I'd love to hear from other folk who use this method, if you do it differently, and how it has helped you.

I shall post an example af this method as used for loneliness, a common problem in today's fragmented society, which can lead to other problems if not well managed.

Where this plan differs from most other personal devotionals is that it's specific for your need, you are discovering what God has to say in His Word to help and empower you in your daily living.

May God bless us all, as we follow Him, including Nannete and helpers with their ministry of this web site.
